Rules

  • Ordinary men may capture backward.
  • Kings fly along diagonals.
  • The longest chain is optional; capturing itself is compulsory.
  • Unlike Russian draughts, a man passing the back rank mid-chain is not promoted.

About the game

The great street and barbershop game of the American South and the Caribbean, historically played in Black communities parallel to (and often stronger than) tournament checkers. Its rules sit close to Russian draughts.
